Your hosts, Simon and Cathy Warren, are both passionate about the incredible part of the world in which we live and operate, our desire to have fun, and especially to share that with as many people as we can! Born in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape respectively, both "bred" in the Eastern Cape, we then spent 17 years in Johannesburg, during which time we were exposed to the Corporate World "before and after the start of democracy" both from the inside, and the outside, as entrepreneurs in the retail industry. We ran a successful sales & merchandising agency for ten years, providing sales, marketing and merchandising services on behalf of a number of well known general merchandise brands to the Retail Chain Stores. In 2005 we finally realized our dream to move back to our roots, and bought a guesthouse on Leisure Isle in Knysna.
Always working closely with Knysna Tourism - African Breeze Guesthouse, tourism and this awesome area we now call home, became our passion. We truly loved hosting our guests at African Breeze, but after three hectic years decided to divert our hands on focus from accommodation and sold the guesthouse which is now owned and operated under new management. Drawing on our experiences of the past 25 years, On ... to Something was born, focusing on the broader tourism, hospitality and events market.
While South Africa is our playground - On… to Something is based in the Western Cape coastal town of Knysna, the "hub" of the Garden Route . We operate mostly between Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape & Cape Town in the Western Cape, and also including
- The Overberg area which includes de Hoop Nature Reserve, Bredasdorp, Cape Agulhas - the southern most point of Africa, Gansbaai & Hermanus
- The Garden Route - the beautiful coastal plain that lies between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains on the north, and the Indian Ocean on the south, pristine fynbos dunes merging with towering indigenous forests - a holiday paradise for anyone who enjoys the outdoors
- well known surfing hotspots of Jeffreys Bay & Cape St Francis
- the world renowned Cape Wineland areas of Stellenbosch, Franschoek & Paarl
- the splendidly vast Karoo "where the horizons are infinite & the footprints few", including the Klein Karoo wineland areas excellent for producing full bodied red wines, especially fortified wines & ports.
- Eastern Cape Game Reserves such as Addo, Shamwari, Kariega, Blaauwbosch, Lalibela, Kwandwe, Kwantu and Sibuya
- the magic and mystique of Namaqualand, beautifully described as "no better place to absorb the magnificence of Nature dressed in her Springtime finery"
